| Synopsis |
President David Palmer learns that Second Wave, a terrorist organisation, is planning to set off a nuclear bomb in Los Angeles sometime that day. George Mason is ordered to contact Jack Bauer, who isn't interested in returning to work, but changes his mind. Kim overhears her boss abusing his wife, so she locks herself and their little girl in the bedroom. Marie Warner is marrying a man who may have connections to the leader of the terrorist group.

FOX executives wanted the "Hacksaw" line was originally supposed to be taken out. It stayed, obviously, and became one of the show's memorable lines.
During the final split-screen of the episode, Gary Matheson can be heard saying "Yeah, I know it's a Saturday". This confirms that Day 2 starts on a Saturday and ends on a Sunday and would explain why Megan Matheson isn't in school.
Jack Bauer: I'm gonna need a hacksaw.
